The Process Of Creating Bespoke Memorials From CAD Design To Finish

1. Design phase (including CAD application)

    Requirement communication and scheme design: Firstly, clarify the purpose, style, size, material (such as stone, copper, etc.), and special requirements (such as relief and text content) of the monument. Using CAD software for precise design, drawing 2D or 3D models, determining the structure, proportions, and details of each part (such as the monument body, base, decorative patterns, etc.).

     Design confirmation: Confirm the design proposal with the client, including dimensions, text content, relief patterns, etc., to ensure that the design meets expectations.

2. Material preparation and pretreatment
    Material selection: Choose suitable materials according to design requirements, such as stone (granite, marble, etc.), copper (purple copper, brass) or other metal materials. If copper carving is involved, copper plates need to be prepared; For stone, suitable specifications of raw materials need to be selected.
     Material cutting and preliminary processing: Cutting materials according to CAD design dimensions. Stone may be mechanically cut into rough shapes, while copper may undergo pre-processing before cutting or forging.
3. Implementation of Production Process (Taking Different Materials as Examples)
      (1) Stone Monument
      Carving and Forming: Carving on stone based on CAD designed relief patterns and text. If paper models are used (as a reference for zero foundation handmade production), they are formed by cutting and pasting cardboard components, but in actual customization, they rely more on mechanical or manual carving.
      Polishing and surface treatment: Polish the carved stone to ensure a smooth surface and clear text and patterns.
       (2) Bronze Carving Monument (Taking Forged Copper or Cast Copper as an Example)
        Forging copper process:
        Make a mold by heating the copper plate until it becomes soft, then forging it onto the mold with a hammer and repeatedly heating it (no more than three times) until it reaches the designed shape.
       Surface treatment: Aging through acid treatment to create a natural rusting effect and enhance visual aesthetics.
       Copper casting process:
       Clay sculpture production: Produce clay sculpture models based on CAD design.
        Flip mold and wax mold production: Flip fiberglass molds and silicone molds, pour wax molds and trim them.
        Lost wax casting: shell making (precision casting or resin sand box production), high-temperature molten copper water pouring, cooling and cleaning the riser, polishing.
         Splicing and surface treatment: Splicing the castings into a whole, sandblasting, shaping, polishing, and finally coloring (cold or hot) and applying oil and wax for protection.

4. Assembly and refinement of details

       Component assembly: Assemble the monument body, base, decorative components, etc. according to design requirements to ensure structural stability. In handmade production, attention should be paid to reserving adhesive edges and ensuring smooth docking to avoid bubbling and wrinkling.

        Final processing of text and patterns: Ensure that the inscriptions and relief patterns are accurate and the edges are neat.

5. Installation and acceptance

        On site installation: Transport the finished monument to the designated location, fix the base, and install the monument body to ensure verticality and stability.

        Final acceptance: Check the overall effect, text accuracy, structural stability, and confirm compliance with design and customer requirements.
