On November 22, the first Xiamen Dragon Boat Open Competition was held at the Jimei Dragon Boat Pool, where 13 teams and over 300 athletes from various districts of the city competed in the "Hometown of Jiakeng." In the end, the Jimei District team won the championships in both the men's and women's 200-meter and 500-meter straight races.
Xiamen has a tradition of Loong Boat racing since ancient times. Chen Jiageng, a patriotic overseas Chinese leader, personally supervised the construction of Jimei Loong Boat pool and organized the race. The Loong Boat spirit advocated by Chen Jiageng comes down in one continuous line with the educational concept of "morality, intelligence and physique". As the first municipal Loong Boat brand event in Xiamen, this Open aims to promote the transition of Loong Boat movement from "folk spontaneous" to "professional leading".
