On December 31, 2025, Xiamen Gulangyu, the "Island of Music", ushered in the New Year's Music Feast. Two artists stationed on the island, Deng Taishan, a world-class pianist, and Olivier Ratley, the chief organist of Notre Dame de Paris, performed on the same stage in the Gulangyu Concert Hall, building a bridge for international cultural exchange through the music.
In the evening, Deng Taishan brought the piano solo concert of "Qindao Zhiyin" to perform the classics of Debussy, Chopin and other famous artists from the oriental perspective. The notes blend with the night and humanistic atmosphere of Qindao. In the Organ Art Center, Olivier Ratley plays magnificent works by Bach and Vidor, and improvises pieces such as "Good New Year" at midnight, leading the audience to welcome New Year's Day 2026 with melodies.
This grand event is based on the "Gulangyu Island Resident Artist Program" launched in 2023, which has signed contracts with 9 internationally renowned artists to promote the localization and rooting of art resources through the "resident island" model, achieving a deep integration of international art and local culture. In addition to the cross year performance, Olivier Ratley also brought two theme concerts during the New Year's Day this year, and Deng Taishan carried out master class teaching and theme lectures of Chopin International Piano Competition.
