"When will the bright moon appear? Tonight is the most round!" At 18:03 yesterday, the first celestial spectacle of 2026 officially unfolded-the annual "supermoon" made its expected appearance in the night sky of Xiamen. The clear weather in Xiamen set the perfect "stage" for this astronomical wonder, with a large, bright, and radiant moon hanging high in the sky. It was captured alongside the under-construction Xiamen-Jinmen Bridge's Xiamen section, drawing residents to pause and gaze, while their cameras froze the romantic charm of winter.

It is reported that "supermoon" refers to a perigee full moon. Due to the elliptical orbit of the moon around the earth, the distance between the moon and the earth will constantly change. When a full moon occurs near perigee, the moon appears larger and brighter than usual. Super moons are not uncommon. There will be three in 2025 and two in 2026, on January 3 and December 24, respectively, with one end and one tail. Among them, December has the largest "head" and is also the largest full moon of the year.
