.The Origin of Ancient Rome: In 46 BC, Roman Emperor Julius Caesar introduced the Julian calendar, designating January 1st as the start of the new year to honor Janus, the two-faced god of Roman mythology, symbolizing looking back on the past and looking forward to the future.

.Origin of Ancient Egypt: The origins of New Year's Day can be traced back to around 4500 BC in ancient Egypt. The ancient Egyptians determined the new year based on the flooding of the Nile River, typically in September, a day symbolizing light and rebirth.

.The origin of the Roman festival of Saturnalia: The origin of the New Year's Day can also be traced back to the Saturnalia festival in ancient Rome. Every year on the night of the first full moon after the winter solstice, the Romans would hold a grand celebration to thank the god Saturnalia for his bountiful harvest. This tradition gradually spread to various parts of Europe, and later in 1582, Pope Gregory XIII officially designated January 1st as the first day of the New Year.

.Chinese origin: In China, the term New Year's Day has existed since ancient times. In Chinese, "yuan" means "first" and "beginning", and "dan" means dawn or early morning. The Chinese lunar calendar's New Year's Day has been in use for over 4000 years, but the current Gregorian calendar's "New Year's Day" was established in 1949.

In summary, the origin of New Year's Day involves multiple ancient civilizations and historical events, among which the Julian calendar reform of ancient Rome and the tradition of the God of Agriculture Festival have had a significant impact on the formation of modern New Year's Day. In China, New Year's Day also has its unique cultural background and historical origins.
