On December 10th, the 14th Xiamen Su Song Cultural Festival will open in Tong'an. With the theme "Ten Cities in Praise · Brilliance of Ancient and Modern Wisdom," the event aims to establish a new cross-regional platform for the inheritance and collaboration of Su Song culture, connecting cross-strait ties and linking resources across ten cities to revitalize the millennia-old spirit of Su Song.
At this Su Song Cultural Festival, the Su Song Cultural Research Alliance will admit the Tainan Su Song Mansion as a new member and present it with precious documents, aiming to unite cross-strait consensus through shared cultural roots and promote the collaborative inheritance of Su Song culture on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
Su Song was knowledgeable and served as an official for more than fifty years, serving in five dynasties. His footprints were spread throughout Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Henan, Hebei and other places. These paths he once walked are all the spiritual coordinates of the people of Tong'an to uphold integrity, innovate and forge ahead.
This year, initiated by the vice president unit of the China Evening News Association, Xiamen Evening News Society, and in collaboration with urban media outlets such as Qianjiang Evening News, Jinling Evening News, Kaifeng Daily, Huainan Daily, Jinhua Evening News, Chengde Evening News, Jingjiang Evening News, Cangzhou Evening News, Yingzhou Evening News, etc., where Su Song left a historical footprint, gathered in Tong'an to deeply explore Su Song's contributions in science and technology, medicine, and other fields, showcasing the cultural heritage and spiritual connotation of the "Four Seas Tong'an". On the day of the event, the media from ten cities will also visit landmarks such as the Su Song Memorial Hall, Xiamen Science City, and Su Song Astronomy Museum, to explore the practice of using Su Song culture to empower economic and social development in Tong'an, form a cross regional communication matrix, and expand the influence of Su Song culture.
On the day of the event, there will also be a summit on the exchange of Su Song's scientific spirit and high-quality development of traditional Chinese medicine. The XR (a general term covering virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality technologies) large-scale work "Sitian Warrior" will be available for experience. The Xiamen Su Song Junior Journalist Team will be established, and the "Su Song Cup" primary and secondary school students' scientific and technological innovation challenge will be launched to enrich the forms of Su Song's cultural inheritance from multiple perspectives.

Su Song and his hometown Tong'an
Su Song was a scientific giant born in Tong'an during the Northern Song Dynasty, who achieved outstanding achievements in astronomy, machinery, medicine, literature, and created seven world firsts. Su Song's technological achievements have also been included in the newly compiled seventh grade history textbook for junior high school. As the hometown of Su Song, Tong'an District has long been committed to promoting the creative transformation and innovative development of Su Song culture. Su Song Park, Su Song Avenue, Su Song Memorial Hall, Su Song Academy, Su Song Hospital, Su Song Astronomy Museum, and others have been successively completed.
